Riley's Best Ball Golf Tournament will once again be kicked off by the Media / Managers' event on Monday April 24th, 2006. The venue has been changed this year and will be held at the Calgary Golf and Country Club.
Last year, for the first time in three years, the weather cooperated for the event, which matches media personalities with participating golf course pros on teams of two to complete for the honor of being the champion of this event for one year.
The winners of the 2005 Media Managers' event, with a net schore of 65 were John Down of the Calgary Herald and Jim Hope of Earl Grey Golf Club.
In second place were Martin Hudson of the Calgary Sun and Theo Mayer of Silver Springs Golf and Country Club with a net score of 66.

With a net score of 67, Glen Chapman, CGA Executive Member and Jim Irvine of Pinebrook Golf and Country Club tied for third place with the two-man team of Wade Sparks of Riley's Reproductions & Printing and Kevin Smith of Global.
The media managers event was followed-up with dinner and the draw for starting positions in the first round of the Riley's Best Ball, Alberta's largest sanctioned tournament of its kind, encompasses 30 Calgary Golf Association affiliated golf clubs and in excess of 500 of Calgary's top male professional and amateur golfers and for the past 13 years has also included a ladies side.
The Ladies Golf Association has been holding an annual tournament for 21 years and the two associations merged this tournament 13 years ago.
Riley's Best Ball will continue throughout the summer and will wind up on Sunday, June 25th, 2005 with finals play-offs commencing at 12:00 noon at Calgary Golf and Country Club.
